As the health of our users is a top priority for us, we strongly recommend getting in touch with your doctor before starting any workout program.
When it comes to getting started, we recommend our most suitable beginner workouts, Chair Yoga Challenge and 7-Minute Morning Yoga.
The most suitable exercises to start with are those that are performed while sitting, lying, standing, or on all fours. If a workout includes exercises that require standing and balancing on one leg, you can do them in a half squat instead. Always stay within a comfortable range of motion so as not to cause any excessive joint pain.
Additionally as a beginner, you may want to consider the following:
- Avoid sudden position changes from standing to sitting or lying down.
- Skip exercises in the plank position with support on extended arms or with support on a straightened arm
- Stay active throughout the day and track your pulse during physical activity.
It’s also recommended that you include walking for about 10 minutes in your routine at an even, moderate pace—this will help improve your health and endurance.
Moreover, the Yoga-Go app has a number of low-impact workouts that are perfect for beginners, including Sofa Yoga, Chair Yoga, Wall Pilates that were designed primarily for seniors and yoga beginners. To find them, follow these instructions:
- Open the app.
- Go to the Library tab and tap All classes.
- Find Sofa Yoga, Chair Yoga, Wall Pilates.
You may also want to try some of the other workouts listed under Series to stay in the flow, such as Yoga for Weight Loss, Flat Belly & Strong Core, Somatic Yoga, Chair Yoga Journey with Anke, and Wall Pilates for Weight Loss. All of these workout series are suitable for beginners and seniors, and you can add them to the In progress collection so they're easy to find whenever you want to practice them. To do this, simply tap on the training set and tap the Start button.
Some workout series may change or become temporarily unavailable. We often test different series combinations to ensure we’re providing the best possible results and experience within the app.
During the app’s onboarding process, after you fill in your options and choose your goal and target areas, the app will create a personalized training plan based on the information you provide, to ensure that the workouts suggested are the most comfortable and suitable for you.
However, the Yoga-Go app also provides a unique opportunity to create your own custom practice plan. In the Practice tab, you have the ability to build your own workout by selecting the type of yoga, time, target zone, and difficulty level you’d like to complete.
